Internships at the Washington Pavilion

The Washington Pavilion has opportunities for various college internships. Typically, these positions are not paid positions, but they are excellent opportunities for obtaining experience in a variety of areas.

For more information or to express interest in any of the intership opportunities listed below, contact Misty Nelson
at (605) 367-7397 ext. 2415.

Currently there are opportunities for internships in the Washington Pavilion's Development Department. The Development Department is an energetic and active department that plays a lead role in Pavilion fundraising efforts. Typically, over twenty percent of the Pavilion’s income comes from development efforts.

The Development Department offers non-paid internships that allow interns the opportunity to experience, first-hand, how a major arts and cultural organization operates. The Development Department is flexible in setting up schedules for internships.

Grant Writing Internship The Pavilion’s Development Department coordinates a variety of grant writing proposals throughout the year. Grant writing interns who possess excellent writing skills will obtain practical and valuable experience researching, writing and completing grant applications--a skill that is valuable in any field.

Special Event Internships The Washington Pavilion Development Department also seeks interns to assist with the planning, promotion and implementation of two very important special events. These internships give the participants a good understanding of the entire scope of what goes into making special events successful.

Arts Night Internship Arts Night is a live art auction featuring a gourmet meal held on the Great Hall stage in early May. Interns assist the Pavilion in planning and promoting the event. Learn how art is donated, presented, and auctioned while helping the Pavilion promote the sale of tickets to this unique event.

Sidewalk Arts Festival Internship Held in early September, the Sidewalk Arts Festival is the largest one-day outdoor arts festival in the state. Interns assist the volunteer planning committee with planning and implementing many of the logistical components of the event. Spend a summer internship helping to organize an annual event that attracts over 50,000 people!
