Siouxland Collects: : Alive and Well and Living in Siouxland

Ever wondered what kind of art your neighbors collect? If they collect art at all? The Visual Arts Center opens it's latest series examining the works of art found in area homes and businesses Labor Day weekend.

Siouxland Collects: Alive and Well and Living in Siouxland is the third exhibit in the "Siouxland Collects" series hosted by the Washington Pavilion's Visual Arts Center. Each year the "Siouxland Collects" exhibit focuses upon a different theme. This year's show features the work of local artists who are actively creating art.

The artworks displayed in the "Siouxland Collects" series are all on loan from local private collections. The exhibits offer a fascinating insight into the different tastes and diverse interests of the area's numerous art collectors. Many of the artworks have rarely, if ever, been on public view.

Siouxland Collects: Alive and Well and Living in Siouxland opens Sept. 3 and runs through Oct. 17. A preview reception is scheduled Sept. 2, 5:30 p.m. in the Visual Arts Center. The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.
