Grupp Art Academy

To continue Carl Grupp’s legacy of enhancing and supporting arts in the region, the Carl A. Grupp Charitable Fund is partnering with the Visual Arts Center at the Washington Pavilion to create an art academy for high school students. Carl Grupp (1939 - 2019) was a recognized leader in arts education in South Dakota and one of the most important artists in the Midwest over the last 60 years. Grupp participated in over 100 regional, national and international art exhibitions since 1961. From 1969 until 2004, Grupp was a professor at Augustana University where he was a beloved teacher and mentor to generations of artists. He founded the Eide/Dalrymple Gallery, with its ambitious exhibition program and permanent art collection.
