Music written by representatives of the culture out of which it grew. Beethoven certainly fits the description of the quintessential German composer of his era. Leonard Bernstein is arguably the most important figure in American music during the second half of the last century. Ye Xiaogang interprets his Chinese culture through the medium of the symphony orchestra. Chinese-American violinist Dan Zhu is one of the most celebrated of his generation, representing both sides of his heritage in this program.
Bernstein | Serenade, after Plato’s Symposium
Ye Xiaogang | Lamura Cuo
