THE SOUND OF MUSIC, produced by NETworks Presentations, is making its Sioux Falls premiere February 22-24 at the Washington Pavilion as part of a North American tour.
THE SOUND OF MUSIC is part of the 2017-18 Pavilion Performance Series which offers an all-Broadway lineup of six musicals. This show is the fourth of the series and includes five performances in Sioux Falls.
Regina Ruhberg, Director of the Husby Performing Arts Center, recently shared, “The Washington Pavilion is proud to offer Sioux Falls an opportunity to enjoy THE SOUND OF MUSIC as a Broadway musical. The family favorite with the memorable songs will touch everyone’s heart.”
THE SOUND OF MUSIC features music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, book by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse, suggested by The Trapp Family Singers by Maria Augusta Trapp. The beloved musical story of Maria and the von Trapp Family will once again thrill audiences with its Tony®, Grammy® and Academy Award®–winning Best Score, including “My Favorite Things,” “Edelweiss” and the title song.
THE SOUND OF MUSIC enjoyed extraordinary success as a live television production when “The Sound of Music Live!” aired on NBC in December, 2013 and was seen by over 44 million people. The 50th anniversary of the film version was celebrated in 2015, which continues to be the most successful movie musical in history.
