Lore is a meditation on transformation. Through shifting forms and unstable materials, these sculptures explore how the body becomes something new — how it erodes, adapts and persists. Figures appear in states of change, never fixed, always becoming.

Fluidity animates every surface and gesture. Identity is not stable or singular but unfolding. Bodies shimmer, dissolve, always resisting. What is solid begins to soften. What is invisible begins to emerge.

Industrial materials like resin, rubber and steel take on unexpected roles. Gleaming-crumbling-stretching beyond their usual limits, echoing the way selfhood bends and reforms under pressure. The physical transformations reflect internal ones — mythic, emotional, queer.

Lore invites viewers to enter a space where nothing is final. It asks us to consider the beauty in uncertainty, the strength in softness, and the truth found in change.

Cameron Stalheim is best known for his queer, hyper-realistic depictions of mythological and fantastical creatures. His methods are as varied as his subjects, utilizing traditional sculptural techniques alongside new age digital applications. The resulting pieces have been described as bizarre yet beautiful, campy yet thoughtful. Stalheim’s sculptural work gives the false impression of the familiar while being utterly foreign in the everyday experience. Interested in macabre imagery and mental health, Stalheim regularly imparts a sense of humor and sensuality into his work.
