A New Mission Has Landed at the Kirby Science Discovery Center!
Looking for fun and educational things to do with kids in Sioux Falls? The Kirby Science Discovery Center is excited to introduce the Mission Patch Quest — a new hands-on space science program designed for children and families.
What Is Mission Patch Quest?
Mission Patch Quest is a limited-time scavenger hunt designed to spark curiosity and keep kids engaged while the second floor of the Kirby Science Discovery Center is under renovation. Families will journey across the museum to complete space-themed science activities — and kids who complete them all will earn an exclusive Pavilion Crew Member patch to take home!
Missions to Complete:
- Survival in a Vacuum: Visit Jack’s Imagination Lab near Parlour to see what happens to everyday objects when there’s no air and discover why astronauts need spacesuits!
- Exploring Craters: Head to the 3rd-floor Science on Wheels cart to make your own craters and see how different impacts leave different marks on a surface.
- Exploring the Solar System: Find the 4th-floor Science on Wheels cart to build your own solar system and see how far apart the planets really are!
Earn Your Mission Patch
After completing all three activities, participants can bring their mission sheet to an interactor for stamping and to receive the official Pavilion Crew Member patch.
Perfect for families seeking an affordable, educational outing, Mission Patch Quest transforms a museum visit into an unforgettable journey of discovery.
