Big discoveries start small! Tiny Tinkerers introduces little learners ages 2-5 to STEAM through hands-on activities designed just for them. Each week, children explore new materials, practice problem-solving and build skills through play, with a new theme to discover each time.

• November 4 | Kitchen Chemistry
  Are you the next Alton Brown? Put on your chef’s hat and become a food scientist! Explore kitchen tools, practice measuring and mixing and whip up your own tasty plate of spaghetti.
• November 11 | Sesame Street Spectacular
  Hi, everybody! It’s Sesame Street Day! Clean up with Oscar the Grouch, count with the Count and get crafty with Big Bird!
• November 18 | Fairy Tales and Fantasy
  Calling all princesses and fairy tale lovers! Celebrate National Princess Day! Design your own princess dress, build Jack’s beanstalk and help Humpty Dumpty rebuild his wall!
• November 25 | Turkey Time
  Gobble, gobble! Help Mr. Turkey find his feathers in time for Thanksgiving! Squish and shape Thanksgiving playdough, then make your own turkey tracks!

What will they try next? Try-It Tuesdays gives kids a chance to explore new interests through hands-on STEAM activities inspired by real-world skills and careers. Each week brings something different to discover, from science and technology to art, engineering and more, with opportunities to learn from Washington Pavilion team members and community guests along the way.

Weekend Workshop invites creators of all ages to explore a new hands-on art activity using approachable materials, techniques and plenty of imagination. Drop in throughout the day to experiment, make the project your own and discover new ways to create.

No school means more time to explore! School’s Out Discovery Days bring special hands-on activities to the museums on select days off from school. Kids can explore science, technology, engineering, art and math while discovering new ways to experience the Kirby Science Discovery Center and Visual Arts Center.

A salute to America’s veterans! Honor the men and women who have served our nation. Paint memorial rocks, create patriotic windsocks and write thank-you messages on American flag mosaics.
