Summer Camps

Summer camps at the Washington Pavilion are a fun and exciting way for students of all ages to continue learning and exploring during the summer months. Our incredible summer camp lineup offers hands-on learning experiences kids ages three through high school and incorporates all the fantastic opportunities we have to offer.

Camps are offered for:

• Ages 3-5

• Ages 6-7

• Ages 8-9

• Ages 10-11

• Ages 12-14

• Spotlight Theatre Company for a variety of ages

Our summer camp teaching team is composed of qualified professionals, including teachers, artists, students and scientists who share a passion for teaching and have a broad base of knowledge and experience in their subject areas.

Lunch Bunch, a supervised lunch hour, is available for an additional fee, making it a full day of fun in your child is registered for both morning and afternoon camps.

Grupp Art Academy

The Grupp Art Academy now offers six unique four-week sessions, each dedicated to a different artistic medium such as drawing, painting, ceramics, and more. Students can dive deep into one area or mix and match sessions to explore a variety of creative paths. This flexible structure is designed to fit around busy high school schedules while allowing young artists to tailor their experience to their personal interests. Along the way, participants will learn from skilled instructors and connect with local artists and the broader arts community in a supportive, inspiring environment.

 

Grupp Art Academy Sessions

Session 1:

Drawing

Bring your imagination to life! In this drawing class, you’ll take an everyday object from home and transform it into a bold, comic-book style character. From sketching on templates to creating a large, poster-sized final piece on mixed media paper, you’ll explore storytelling through design, line, and exaggeration—just like real comic artists. No cape required, just creativity!

Session 2:

Paint Exploration

In this painting class, you’ll start with an unexpected object and transform it through creativity, color, and brushwork. From playful experiments to bold impressionist painting, you’ll discover new ways to see ordinary things in extraordinary ways.

Session 3:

Sculpture

Go big and bold! In this sculpture class, you’ll build a giant mask using spray foam, tools, and paint. From wild textures to dramatic colors, you’ll transform simple materials into a one-of-a-kind 3D artwork that’s larger than life.

Session 4:

Printing

Carve, ink, and press your imagination into life! In this printmaking class, you’ll design and carve your own 8×10 linoleum block, roll out bold black ink, and print your design onto canvas. At the end, each student’s print will join together to form a collaborative masterpiece — a wall of unique voices woven into one artwork. And the best part? You’ll still get to take your own piece home as part of the larger story.

Session 6:

Mixed Media

Bring your inner spirit animal to life! In this sculpture class, you’ll build a 3D creature using wire, newspaper, and papier-mâché, then finish it with bold paint and details. Each mask-like form becomes a personal expression of identity, imagination, and creativity; a messy, hands-on project where every student walks away with their own powerful animal creation.

Class Cancellation Policy

Participant Cancellation: Partial refunds will be issued to participants who cancel a minimum of 14 days prior to the first day of class (a processing fee of $10 will be kept on all refunds). No refunds will be issued for any cancellations made within 14 days of the first day of class.

Program Cancellation: If a minimum enrollment has not been reached one week prior to the first session, we must cancel the program. Customers will be contacted by telephone or email. If we are unable to accommodate a suitable transfer to a class in the same season, we will issue a full refund.
