Broadway Returns to Sioux Falls With the 10th Anniversary Tour of WAITRESS

Sioux Falls, SD (10/5/2026) — Sioux Falls audiences can experience the excitement and exceptional talent of a national Broadway tour right here at home when WAITRESS opens the Washington Pavilion’s 2026–27 Broadway season Oct. 9–11.

Celebrating 10 years since its Broadway debut, WAITRESS pairs an unforgettable score by Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles with a funny, heartfelt story about friendship, courage and finding your own recipe for happiness. Tickets are still available for all four performances.

“WAITRESS gives audiences the full Broadway experience with exceptional performances, Sara Bareilles’ unforgettable music and a story that can make you laugh one moment and move you the next,” said Regina Ruhberg, Executive Producer of Programming and Booking. “This is the kind of production people often travel to larger cities to see, and we are proud to bring it right here to Sioux Falls. It is an exciting way to open our Broadway season and a night audiences will not want to miss.”

Meet Jenna, a waitress and expert pie-maker who dreams of a way out of her small town and rocky marriage. Pouring her heart into her pies, she crafts desserts that mirror her topsy-turvy life such as “The Key (Lime) to Happiness Pie” and “Betrayed By My Eggs Pie.” When a baking contest in a nearby county — and a satisfying encounter with someone new — show Jenna a chance at a fresh start, she must find the courage to seize it. Change is on the menu, as long as Jenna can write her own perfectly personal recipe for happiness.

WAITRESS opened April 24, 2016 at Broadway’s Brooks Atkinson Theatre. Based upon the 2007 motion picture written by Adrienne Shelly, WAITRESS is the first Broadway musical in history to have four women in the four top creative team spots, with a book by Jessie Nelson, a score by Grammy® Award-winning singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles (composer of “Love Song” and “Brave”), choreography by Lorin Latarro and direction by Tony Award®-winner Diane Paulus. The WAITRESS Tour features Direction and Choreography re-created by Abbey O’Brien, and includes Scott Pask, Scenic Design; Suttirat Anne Larlarb, Costume Design; Ken Billington, Lighting Design; Brian Walters, Sound Design; Bernie Ardia, Hair Design; Nadia DiGiallonardo, Music Supervision. Arrangements by Nadia DiGiallonardo and Sara Bareilles, and Orchestrations by Sara Bareilles and The Waitress Band. Casting by ARC Casting.

“WAITRESS is a little slice of heaven!” says Entertainment Weekly, and is “Warm, witty, wise and hilarious. A wonderful treat.” according to London’s Express Online!

“It’s an empowering musical of the highest order!” raves the Chicago Tribune.  Don’t miss this uplifting and hilarious musical celebrating friendship, motherhood, and the magic of a well-made pie.
