    A multi-media exploration of Native American inspirations curated by scholar in residence Joseph Horowitz.  Including Dvořák's celebrated New World Symphony accompanied with stunning visuals by Peter Bogdanoff, and Louis Ballard's "Incident at Wounded Knee". Experience the Creekside Singers drumming group with full orchestra performing "Lakota Refrains," a new orchestral work by Derek Bermel and Emmanuel Black Bear from the 2025 Lakota Music Project Tour.

    TCHAIKOVSKY’S ‘PATHETIQUE’ SYMPHONY

    Sibelius described the mood of his sixth symphony as "cold spring water". Tchaikvosky's Symphony No. 6 was the result of a creative explosion. Between these two great symphonies, SDSO premieres a work by University of South Dakota composition professor Paul Lombardi.

    STRAVINSKY’S FIREBIRD

    Experience a night of magnificent classics and new works! A world premiere by 2025 Pulitzer-prize winning composer, percussionist and sound artist, Susie Ibarra, and a new piece from the Lakota Music Project Tour by SDSO's principal oboist Jeffrey Paul and Lakota Music Project partner, Dakota Cedar Flutist Bryan Akipa. Plus music by Ravel, and Stravinsky's revolutionary "The Firebird".
