STEAM Labs (Art + STEM)

Our STEAM Labs are designed for busy classrooms and curious learners, offering engaging, curriculum-connected activities led by our educators.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Reduced admission is available to help schools and organizations that serve low-income students visit the Kirby Science Discovery Center.

To qualify, schools or youth-serving organizations must have at least 20% of students eligible for free or reduced-price lunch through the federal school lunch program.

Please note: Reduced admission rates are only available to schools within a designated proximity to the Sioux Falls metro area.

Yes. Bus transportation support is available for eligible groups visiting for the Museum Experience.

To qualify, groups must have 40% or more of students eligible for free or reduced-price lunch. Support includes up to $100 per bus in reimbursement.

Transportation assistance is available for trips scheduled between September and March. Funds are limited and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

Bus drop-off and parking areas are available near the Washington Pavilion for school groups. To help with planning your visit, please review the map below for designated locations and directions.

Off the Fridge

The Washington Pavilion invites your school to be a part of the Off the Fridge program. Off the Fridge provides an opportunity for your students to exhibit their one-of-a-kind masterpieces in the 2nd floor lobby of the Washington Pavilion for approximately one month. The ideal number of pieces for this exhibit is 47-60.

Students’ mounted artwork is returned at the conclusion of show dates.

Homeschool Classes

Discover hands-on art and science activities designed especially for homeschool families! Each class invites children and parents to explore, create and learn together through fun, interactive projects in our museum spaces.
