What to Expect

Your instructor will begin by checking in and helping you feel comfortable. From there, you may move through vocal warm-ups, technique exercises and songs selected around your interests and goals.

Together, you and your instructor will identify what feels natural, work through areas that need attention and discover how different choices influence your sound. You may polish current music, revisit familiar songs or begin something new.

Most importantly, you will leave with practical tools, a clearer understanding of your voice and greater confidence in using it.

Meet the Instructors

Mo is an expressive storyteller who loves how music and singing bring people together. She has performed with numerous groups on stages ranging from Sioux Falls to Carnegie Hall in New York City.

Mo remains active in the regional music, theatre and performance community and also spends time in Vermilion as an adjunct vocal professor at the University of South Dakota. She also plays electric bass and enjoys traveling, discovering new places and trying the food and drinks found along the way

Whitney is an award-winning actor and director who believes every person has a unique voice worth discovering. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in acting from Regent University, is a collective member with Good Night Theatre Collective and serves as producing coordinator with Monstrous Little Theatre Company.

Drawing on her performance and directing experience, Whitney creates a supportive environment where singers can develop healthy vocal technique, express themselves authentically and build confidence. Whether she is onstage, behind the scenes or in the lesson room, Whitney loves helping people unlock their creativity and tell their stories through their voice.

Continuing Amy’s Vision

Spotlight Voice Academy proudly carries forward the work of Effervescent Voice Academy founder Amy Eitemiller-Morrison. Amy spent decades working with singers, including more than 20 years as an adjunct professor at Indiana Wesleyan University and the University of Sioux Falls. Her experience included musical theatre, Western classical music, opera, popular music and modern worship. She believed every singer deserved to discover their healthiest and most authentic voice. Her teaching helped students express emotion, tell stories through song and gain confidence onstage and in everyday life. Amy was also a celebrated performer, instrumentalist, composer, arranger and leader within the Sioux Falls arts community. In 2023, the Sioux Falls Arts Council honored her with a Lifetime Achievement Award for her contributions to the arts and arts education.

Amy first approached the Washington Pavilion in 2021 with a vision of bringing a voice academy into the organization. We are honored to carry that vision forward through Spotlight Voice Academy. Her passion, expertise and belief in every singer will continue to shape generations of voices.

Marrie L. Spotlight Voice Academy Client

“My daughter started really getting into singing last year, and these voice lessons have been absolutely perfect for her. We have only taken lessons for a few months now but Mo is so amazing at connecting with Liz. She makes learning new things totally stress free, and every single lesson is filled with fun. My daughter is learning so much about singing, but the biggest thing for me is seeing how much her confidence has grown. She honestly looks forward to going every week. We’re so incredibly grateful!”

She has become a stronger and more confident singer.  She has learned so much about vocal technique, breathing, and her vocal range as expanded. Mo is so supportive and even shows up to support her students on stage. Voice lessons with Mo have made a huge impact on our daughter!”
