Washington Pavilion Hosts Free Ag Day Event in Appreciation of Agriculture on March 7

Sioux Falls, SD (3/4/2026) — As appreciation to farmers, ranchers and many people in agriculture, the Washington Pavilion is hosting Ag Day on Saturday, March 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on its first, second and third floor lobbies. Learn about the foundations of South Dakota agriculture and the significance it holds to our community.

Thanks to all the generous Ag Day sponsors, the event is free and there are many opportunities and fun ways to learn and explore, including:

  • Baby piglets
  • An interactive market
  • Book readings
  • Demonstrations
  • And so much more!

“We’re so appreciative to all our sponsors who came together to make this event happen. It’s important to celebrate agriculture and the industry that provide everything with necessities we use daily,” says Madelyn Grogan, Director of Education and Museums. “We want the whole community to join us at the Washington Pavilion and enjoy SDSU ice cream, visit with agriculture professionals and check out all the vendors.”

Each year, the Washington Pavilion hosts Ag Day to promote agriculture in the Midwest, with a focus on sharing how agriculture provides almost everything we eat, use and wear daily. Producers, agricultural associations, corporations, universities, government agencies and others will gather at the Washington Pavilion to celebrate the abundance provided by agriculture.

Ag Day is sponsored by South Dakota Corn Utilization Council; South Dakota Beef Industry Council; Butler Machinery; Smithfield Foods; Dakota Layers; Farm Credit Services of America; Pipestone; South Dakota Grassland Coalition; Prairie Farms Daily; South Dakota Farmers Union; South Dakota Soybean Checkoff; CHS Inc.; Hefty Seed Company; Greater Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce; South Dakota Pork Producers Council; Blue Sky Vegetable Co.; Bel Brands USA.; ‘hood Magazine; C & R Supply Inc.; and Tri-State Neighbor.

Ag Day attendees are encouraged to extend their stay following the event by purchasing a museums admission and exploring over 100 science exhibits in the Kirby Science Discovery Center and eight spacious art galleries in the Visual Arts Center.
