About the Exhibition
“ARTifacts of Play” brings together works from the South Dakota State University School of Design and The School of Performing Arts including excerpts from “What Makes Your Soul Breathe,” wearable artworks from Design 121, and “The Puppet Project” from Sculpture 241. Bursting with movement, experimentation, and humor, the exhibition explores PLAY as one of the most powerful engines of creative discovery. The works on view challenge the idea that art forms must stay in separate lanes, revealing instead how the core principles of design flow freely across disciplines. From interactive experiences and wearable sculptures to puppets, performance, and visual design, “ARTifacts of Play” celebrates the moment when curiosity takes over, boundaries dissolve, and creativity becomes a shared act of exploration, connection, and joyful human expression
