Big discoveries start small! Tiny Tinkerers introduces little learners ages 2-5 to STEAM through hands-on activities designed just for them. Each week, children explore new materials, practice problem-solving and build skills through play, with a new theme to discover each time.

• Oct. 7 | Fire Fighter Frenzy
  Sound the alarm! Fight a shaving cream fire, tackle a firefighter training obstacle course and create a one-of-a-kind firehose painting.

• Oct. 14 | Pet Party
  Calling all pet lovers! Create a rocking cat and your own pet rock, match pets with their favorite treats and strike a pose with pet yoga.

• Oct. 21 | Spider Splendor
  Get caught up in some spider fun! Bead spider legs, feed a hungry spider by tossing bug balls into its web and create a marbled web painting.

• Oct. 28 | Monster Mayhem
  Let the monster mayhem begin! Play with monster Play-Doh, give monsters a wild haircut, compete in a monster bean bag toss and wrap it up with the Monster Pokey.

What will they try next? Try-It Tuesdays gives kids a chance to explore new interests through hands-on STEAM activities inspired by real-world skills and careers. Each week brings something different to discover, from science and technology to art, engineering and more, with opportunities to learn from Washington Pavilion team members and community guests along the way.

Make something unexpected during your weekend museum visit! Weekend Workshop invites creators of all ages to explore a new hands-on art activity using approachable materials, techniques and plenty of imagination. Drop in throughout the day to experiment, make the project your own and discover new ways to create.

  Put a new spin on fall! Swirl strips of autumn-colored paper to create leaves for your own autumn tree.
• Oct. 17-18 | Squishy Fishy
  Make a splash with a paper squishy fish that blows a bubble when you give it a squeeze!
• Oct. 25 | Dancing Skeletons
  Get those bones moving! Use Q-tips to create your own skeleton caught mid-dance.
• Oct. 31- Nov. 1 | Witches’ Brew Sensory Potion
  Mix up some Halloween fun! Combine colorful gel and spooky surprises to create your own witches’ brew sensory potion.

No school means more time to explore! School’s Out Discovery Days bring special hands-on activities to the museums on select days off from school. Kids can explore science, technology, engineering, art and math while discovering new ways to experience the Kirby Science Discovery Center and Visual Arts Center.
