Sioux Falls Municipal Band Announces Schedule Changes Due to Heat

July 27, 2023

Sioux Falls, SD — Due to the local heat warning, the Sioux Falls Municipal Band has cancelled tonight’s performance previously scheduled at McKennan Park at 7:30 p.m. The conditions are conducive to overexposure due to the extreme heat and can be detrimental to their performers.

Tonight’s performance will now be combined with Sunday’s final performance to complete the season. To ensure it occurs without a hitch, the performance will be moved to the Mary W. Sommervold Hall at the Washington Pavilion. Doors will open at 7 p.m., and the concert will begin at 8 p.m. The performance will include pieces from tonight’s concert celebrating the 125th anniversary of Sousa’s iconic march, “Stars and Stripes Forever” and the grand finale lineup featuring a wide variety of music, including classics from the golden age of Broadway, traditional marches and contemporary favorites.

Supporters and fans of the Sioux Falls Municipal Band are encouraged to stay safe, keep cool and join the band one last time on Sunday, July 30, at 8 p.m. at the Washington Pavilion for a memorable final performance. For more information, go to WashingtonPavilion.org/SFMunicipalBand.
